The UAE always astonishes us with its economic upswing plans. One of which is introducing a new type of work visa that encourages flexible work models for the benefit of both the country and the remarkable individuals.

Other than the various types of work visas already available usually with the validity of 2 and 3 years, the UAE has introduced in 2022 the green visa for partners, investors, skilled employees, self-employed and freelancers which allows living and working in the country for a longer period than the standard work visa allows. And also offers additional features and benefits.

UAE Green visa characteristics:

UAE Green Visa is a residence visa type which allows entitled residents to sponsor themselves without the need for a UAE national or employer as a sponsor as usually required in the standard visa types. It has a 5-years validity and allows them to proceed with the same type of residence for their family members including spouse, children and 1st degree relatives. While on other visa types, sons are able to be sponsored until the age of 18, the green visa has an advantage of sponsoring them until the age of 25, while unmarried daughters and children of determination can still be sponsored with no age limit.

In case of expiry or cancellation of the green visa, you are allowed to stay in the country for a period of 6 months to either renew your green visa for the same terms and conditions, get another residence visa, or depart the country.
