Dubai is arguably one of the safest, most family-friendly cities in the world, with the UAE clinching the spot for the third safest place in the world, according to a recent research. So you can breathe a sigh of relief regardless of where you stay in the city. Although there are other factors to consider when picking the right area to live in if you’ve got kids. Access to parks, child care centers, nurseries, schools, hospitals and shopping malls are some of the other things you have to keep in mind. Here is our pick of the top child-friendly localities in Dubai.

1. Arabian Ranches

Situated just outside the busy city (but still easily accessible), the Arabian Ranches is a safe, secure and quiet suburb. The family-oriented community is quite active and involved in making the Ranches a fun and lively place to live in.

Sprawling luxury homes make up the most of the Ranches, while golf courses, a souq, a clinic, skate parks, bike trails, tennis and basketball courts dot the suburbs, making it almost self-contained.

It is also close to several schools, amenities and activities, such as Jumeirah English Speaking School, GEMS Metropole, Ranches Primary School, Raffles Nursery, Jebel Ali Village Nursery Arabian Ranches, and the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club.

Properties are available both on rent as well to buy in Arabian Ranches 3.

2. The Green Community

Another community situated away from the city (we’re noticing a trend here), the Green Community is a part of the Dubai Investments Park (DIP) and is connected to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Emirates Road. Staying true to its name, the community is full of natural greenery, offering plenty of outdoor time for kids.
Free of traffic and access to children’s play areas and parks make this a great place for families to live.

The Green Community also plays host to the he Children’s Garden Nursery, Greenfield Community School, and The Market, a pleasant shopping arcade.

3. Mirdif

Home to one of Dubai’s oldest and largest parks, Mushrif Park, Mirdif was long regarded as being on the outskirts of the city. Now, however, it has developed into a prime suburb, situated in a comfortable zone just outside the city. With easy access to the Dubai International Airport, Dubai Festival City, Academic City and even Deira, it is certainly well connected. Options are available for both renting or buying properties in the area.

Beautiful villas and spacious apartments have made Mirdif very popular with families. Local schools and attractions include Mirdif Private School, Small Steps Nursery, Star International School, Mirdif City Centre, and Uptown Mirdif.

4. Discovery Gardens

An affordable and self-contained community located in Jebel Ali, Discovery Gardens is ideal for families on so many levels. Relaxed, quiet and laid back, it offers plenty of outdoor space for kids to play, while colourful buildings give it a quirky, fun character. Several schools are within walking distance of most building clusters, such as DPS Dubai and Winchester School. The neighbourhood also has Chubby Cheeks Nursery and the Bubbles & Giggles Nursery for families with toddlers. Check out our listing of renting or buying property in Discovery Gardens.

For recreation, you can head down to Ibn Battuta mall, or one of several community swimming pools, gardens, jogging paths, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts and football pitches.
