Introduction of Smart Police Stations in Dubai:

In line with the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy, the Dubai police, on 18 September 2017, introduced the first smart police station in the UAE and the whole middle east region in City Walk to reinforce the government service experience. Later, more smart police stations were established across the emirate to cater to the public needs and achieve more customer and government efficiency.

What are Smart Police Stations?

Smart police stations are self-service police stations that offer almost the same services as standard police stations without human interaction.

Aim of Smart Police Stations:

An initiative by the Dubai Police towards achieving Dubai leadership’s vision and supporting the UAE strategy for artificial intelligence, smart police stations help speed up the government’s performance for the convenience of the city and the customers, whether they are citizens, residents, or tourists. In addition, it strengthens Dubai’s position as the world’s safest and most preferred place to live, work and visit.

Dubai Smart Police Stations Services:

Dubai Smart Police Stations are supervised by smart cameras with touch screens, currently offering 27 smart essential top-notch services, some of which are fully automated. Others involve virtual contact with multi-lingual officers through a voice call or video call in the private rooms available at the station.

The SPS Currently offers services covering crime, traffic services, certificates, permits and community services.

Criminal services: include home security, victim support, reporting bounced cheques, labor complaints, police eye, filing a criminal complaint, police report inquiry and human trafficking.

Dubai Smart Police Stations Services

Traffic services: include reissuing traffic accidents, traffic status certificates, changing vehicle color, and paying fines.

Certificates and permits: include lost item certificate, police clearance certificate, corpse entry permit, night work permit, road closure permit, clearance certificate, and certificate TWIMC.

Community services: which includes tourist security, events security requests, leaders at your service, job vacancies, heart patient service, delivery of found items and search for lost items.

All the transactions can be done through a user-friendly platform with the services available in 7 languages -Arabic, English, Spanish, French, German, Russian and Chinese, taking into consideration the global nature of the city.

Fines can be paid through cash and credit card through the machines available at SPS. 

Also, SPS offers public education on safe driving and others.

Dubai Smart Police Stations are open round the clock, 24 hours, seven days a week, giving greater flexibility to residents and tourists alike.

Documents Needed to File a complaint at Smart Police Stations:

Emirates ID is required for residents, while a passport is required for tourists/visitors. The station has a scanner and a printer for documentation

After the process is complete, you will receive a copy of the filed case for further persuasion.

In Conclusion:

The Dubai smart police stations have proved successful since their launch in 2017 and have welcomed more than 2 million visitors and processed more than 363,000 transactions in their first five years only. During Expo 2020, SPS played a crucial role in securing the six-month-long mega event and offered services to visitors from all over the world. Residents and tourists utilized the smart police services provided without the need to go to conventional stations or wait in queues.
