Zoom Property Insights – Key Highlights

  • The EXPO Dubai event drew huge crowds over the long weekend.
  • ‘Space Week’ and various shows organised throughout the week attracted the visitors.
  • The number of online visits also witnessed a significant rise.

According to Zoom Property Insights, the marquee event, Expo 2020, commenced with all its glory on 1st October 2021. A grand opening ceremony marked the start of this six-month-long event. During the first 24 days of the event, it has already recorded nearly 1.5 million visits, which is a record in itself.

According to a report, the first 17 days clocked in 771,477 visitors. Experts anticipated it to touch the 1 million mark during the next week because of a public holiday and long weekend (21st to 23rd October). However, the event surpassed all expectations, as it reported 699,837 visits during the next seven days, bringing the total tally of visitors up to 1,471,314 in 24 days.

Apart from physical visits, the event also witnessed a growth vis-à-vis digital audience. The number of online visits witnessed an increase of 1.5 million, totalling up to 10.8 million over the past week.

The high influx of visitors is credited to Space Week (17th to 23rd October) that featured a stellar line-up of different music events, including performances by nebula music, Firdaus Orchestra, Sami Yusuf who, along with musicians from around the world, performed “Beyond the Stars’ show. Visitors also took part in stargazing and got an opportunity to hear from Hazza Al Mansouri and Nora Al Matrooshi, UAE’s first astronauts.

Other than that, Al Fursan and Saudi Falcons (aerobatic display teams of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, respectively) hosted a heart-stopping show above the Expo-2020 site. Al Wasl Plaza, the largest 360-degree projection dome, also drew in the huge cord as it hosted a space-themed projection show.

The half-term break in schools was another major reason that led to overwhelming visits to Expo. Statistics reveal that a quarter of total visits were made up of children during the week (17th to 23rd October). They were mostly attracted to football sessions, which were hosted by coaches belonging to Manchester City.

Regular events organised in the current edition of the world fair are also drawing visitors. For example, the Expo 2020 Water Feature, Kaleidoscope (evening light festival) and Garden in the Sky are some events that have remained favourite among visitors.

The world fair is scheduled to have many more public and business events that are surely going to attract more visitors. Expo 2020 calendar features the details of all these events.

The rising number of visitors is also impacting the Dubai property market. Several enquiries have been received by Zoom Property, a fast-emerging property portal, for affordable properties for rent in Dubai, particularly in areas closer to the Expo site. The demand and prices of properties all over the emirate have also witnessed a surge.
