If you haven’t managed to get away for a quick vacation, or if you’ve just gotten back from one, the summer blues are probably setting in. Don’t panic just yet though as there’s plenty to do right here in sunny Dubai this August.

Watch Balqees Live

Regional favourite and Yemeni singer Balqees Fathi will perform a free concert at the Dragon Mart 2 retail complex as part of the city-wide Eid Al Adha celebrations. Fresh from a first-ever female-only concert in Saudi Arabia, and having performed alongside Italian Andrea Bocelli in Abu Dhabi, she is set to take Dubai by storm on the 24th of August.

Balqees’ style of music involves mixing traditional khaleeji percussion with innovative instrumentation, and combining elements of Western pop, and even R&B. She sings the tracks in Yemeni, Iraqi and Lebanese dialects, as well as classical Arabic.
Watch her perform her hits like ‘Ya Hawa’ and ‘Majnoun’ at the Al Awir Road leisure destination.

Do a beach cleanup

We have the pleasure of enjoying Dubai’s lovely beaches all year-round, so once in a while, its nice to give back. A monthly beach clean up takes place at the Zero Gravity. It will be held on the 5th of August 2018 at the Zero Gravity, Dubai. As part of a series of environmental initiatives to help protect the coastline and the planet’s future, Zero Gravity’s staff team and partners will take part in a Beach Clean Up along JBR beach, clearing the shoreline of rubbish, in particular plastics. All participants are provided with T-shirts. If you are interested in getting involved, email Zero Gravity at weloveourbeach@0-gravity.ae
