Some say you’re not a true Dubai-ite until you’ve done the traditional (expat tradition, not Emirati tradition) Dubai Friday brunch. It’s one of the more relaxing ways to spend a weekend in the city, and something that should at least be experienced, if not regularly indulged in. While there are several options around the city ranging widely in price and offerings, one thing is common to most of them- unlimited food and beverages!
Here are some of our favorite Friday brunches in Dubai-

1. Double Decker

Located at the Roda Al Rotana (opposite Dubai Mall), Double Decker is the quintessential British Pub, something made apparent by everything from the decor and the menu to the name of the pub itself. The Double Decker brunch has a reputation as one of Dubai’s longest running brunches, so it’s built up quite a reputation for itself over the years. Expect to feast on traditional British cuisine, such as roast, butter chicken, Yorkshire pudding, fish and chips and sausages. The pub has a full bar, as well as a large selection of non-alcoholic beverages for teetotalers.

At around 2 pm the lights suddenly come down and the music goes up, turning Double Decker into a daytime nightclub, so for those looking for a ‘party brunch’, you know where to head to.

2. Mr Miyagi’s at Media One Hotel

Cheesy, loud, and exciting, this late afternoon romp is well worth a visit for Asian food-lovers!
The bright neon signs set the tone for the rest of the brunch- you’re in for a loud, brash and ultimately fun experience. Prices vary, but the soft drinks package is only AED 185, while those preferring a harder kick can opt to keep the drinks flowing for half an hour after the brunch officially ends for AED 100 extra.

Snack on Far-Eastern themed cuisine such as salted Edamame, prawn crackers, dim sum, crispy spring rolls, sushi, Thai and Japanese curries and more. The food is served Al La Carte, so you can focus on your drinks and singing along to the very loud pop music blaring away.

3. Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah

Al Qasr’s brunches are considered almost legendary, and this isn’t hyperbole. 3 restaurants come together every Friday to offer visitors over 280 dishes, 35 live cooking stations and 533 kgs of meat and seafood manned and prepared by 130 chefs. The buffet is so incredibly large that guests are given a map to make sure they don’t get lost.
The decor is similar to that of Madinat Jumeirah- traditional Emirati architecture fused with more contemporary designs. The view from the tables is breathtaking, with the majestic Burj Al Arab looming over the guests.

The sumptuous brunch is a collaboration between Al Hambra, MJ’s Steakhouse and Arboretum, and is full of live cooking stations preparing world-class Mexican, Chinese, Arabic, Jamaican, Thai and English cuisines, amongst others. The drinks selection is understandably extensive, and guests can visit any of the multiple bars and walk away with anything from a fresh mojito to a Malibu served in a fresh coconut.

4. Comme Ça Friday brunch at Bleu Blanc

A fancier affair than most others on this list, David Myers’ Bleu Blanc is the perfect brunching spot for connoisseurs. The cool, calm decor of the French restaurant is warm and welcoming, The venue is light, bright and airy. The décor of light woods and plenty of blue and white shades gives it a real Gallic farmhouse vibe. Big windows at one end, overlooking the Dubai Water Canal, also bring in natural light and give great views.

The food is delivered right to your table, and comprises of everything from traditional breakfast-brunch fare to rich and extravagant desserts. Feast on the likes of breads, croissants, tartines, kale salad, pesto ravioli as well as more curious options like mac n cheese and simple bowls of cream.

The venue is well known for it’s very friendly service (the management is keen on breaking stereotypes), and the drinks are both generous and easily available.
