Key Highlights:

  • Dubai South ends 2021 on a high note
  • With the addition of 700 companies, the total rises up to 4,600
  • It is expected to continue its high performance with Expo 2020 site transitioning into District 2020

Home to the ongoing Expo 2020 that’s receiving a high number of footfalls with each passing day, Dubai South has added another feather in its cap. It attracted more than 700 companies in 2021.

The largest single-urban development had an exceptional 2021, and it expects to continue its high performance in 2022 as well. In 2021, it attracted various new companies and clients, launched unique projects while selling existing ones, and signed top-level partnerships. Dubai South Business Park leased 243,805 sqft of space in 2021 and retained 85 per cent of its firms.

Dubai South Properties, after a ravishing success of The Pulse, has launched another project, titled The Pulse Villas, which is on its course to becoming another success story as the first and second phases of the project are already sold out. The former (The Pulse) is an urban-mixed use development featuring 240 townhouses and 1,400 apartments, while the latter (The Pulse Villas) only consists of villas.

Expo 2020

Another project by the company, The Pulse Beachfront comprising 3-5 bedroom townhouses, was also launched after Expo 2020 started. Its first two phases have already been sold out, while the third and the last phase will be launched during the first quarter of 2022. Dubai South Properties also launched Residential District Villa Plots, and all of them have been sold out. The strategic location, unique features of the project, and timely delivery of past projects are some of the major factors that evoked a favourable reaction from buyers and investors.

For commercial properties, buyers and investors can choose from a selection of freehold plots available on a convenient payment plan in The Avenue, a project by Dubai South Properties.

The district currently houses more than 25,000 residents, and this number is expected to rise more particularly after Expo 2020 turns into District 2020, a mixed-use and sustainable community. Sakany, the area’s first leasehold staff accommodation, has a 99 per cent occupancy rate. It was developed with the aim to focus on resident welfare.

District 2020

Currently, there are over 4,600 companies operating in Dubai South, with a total number of employees reaching 20,848 by the end of 2021.

Dubai South was launched in 2006 as a Dubai Government project. It covers an area of 145 square kilometres and is on its way to becoming one of the most prominent residential and commercial districts in Dubai with various new projects lined up.
