Dubai has achieved yet another milestone in maintaining having the best maritime destinations. According to a recent report, it is the third consecutive year that Dubai ports have been included in the list of Top 5 Maritime Destinations. It has attained this spot by outperforming several notable maritime capitals such as Tokyo, Hamburg, and Rotterdam. 

The emirate, also known for its iconic structures, luxurious short term rentals and state of the art developments, is the first city in the Arab world to be featured in this list.

The ranking is decided as per the ISCD index by Xinhua and Baltic Exchange. The former is a news agency based in London. It is also affiliated with the China Economic Information Service. Key indicators and criteria that the ISCD index is based on includes:

  • The impact of the ports in ensuring the growth and development of the global shipping industry.
  • The use of innovative technology in global maritime centers.
  • The ability of ports to attract businesses.
  • Efficiency and quality of the ports’ infrastructure.
  • Environment for investment 

Mr Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO and Chairman of DP World, believes that Dubai Maritime City Authority is expected to show more progress. According to him, it will improve the city’s “competitiveness on the global shipping landscape”.

The continuous growth in Dubai’s maritime sector and this accomplishment is a result of the wise leadership that is directed towards enhancing logistical capabilities and developing the infrastructure of ports. Furthermore, improved regulatory frameworks and marine services are other important factors that have helped Dubai ports to attain a prominent spot in this list.

This achievement also depicts the confidence of the global community in the maritime sector of Dubai.
