There are few places in the world that indulge singles, couples, kids and families alike and UAE is right up there with the very best. From monolith theme parks to watersports and beachside malls, everyone from babies and tots to tweens and teens are catered for. This is the ideal time to gather your brood and head outdoors for some al fresco fun.

8. Check out the beautiful birds at Ras Al Khor

This is free during the day and absolutely one of the lesser shouted about, but excellent free activities in the city!
The wildlife sanctuary, which covers an area of 6km, is home to thousands of birds, mammals and fish but it’s the flamingos that people love to snap. The area is protected, however there are viewing spots open to the public during the day.

7. Pirates of the Bay

Running until the end of April, ‘Pirates of the Bay’ at Festival Bay is offering an exciting host of events for the whole family to enjoy. From an all-new, pirate-themed IMAGINE show to an outdoor Pirate Playground filled with fun obstacles for the little ones, this is the perfect way to spend your winter days in Dubai.

6. Snoopy Island, Fujirah

What to expect: Snoopy Island is, of course, named after Charlie Brown’s pet beagle from the Peanuts comics — and it’s not hard to see why (just Google ‘snoopy on doghouse’.) The beach has chalet rentals and offers a great spot for camping, while the waters around the island are teaming with marine life — perfect for snorkeling and kayaking.

5. Watch a movie on a heli-pad

Where else in the world could you do this?!
Happening until April 15 at Dubai Festival City, you DO need to purchase something at the mall (your receipt is your ticket) but this is something you don’t want to miss

4. Banana Beach, Jabel Ali

Resembling an old-school hippie commune, Banan Beach at Jebel Ali is a newish camp spot most people have yet to experience… let alone know of. This beachside resort has everything from colorful tents to cosy chalets — along with Insta-worthy sea swings and water hammocks. When it comes to off-the-beaten-path experiences… this one is only 20 minutes from Dubai Marina.

3. Al Qudra biking tracks

Yup, you need a bike, but this is a fantastic facility open to all Dubai residents and tourists alike. 50km of quality track, and if you rise early, this is one great sport you can keep doing all summer.

2. Get Drag racing at Yas Marina Circuit

It’s nine years since Yas Marina Circuit began hosting the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, perhaps the biggest weekend in the capital. But during the other 51 weeks of the year, the track is still open and offers other thrilling experiences. While there are a number of passenger rides in supercars with professional drivers, the newest edition to the venue’s roster is the chance to be taken drag-racing in a super-charged Chevy Camaro.

1. Safari on Sir Bani Yas Island

A long way from pretty much anything (it’s closer to the Saudi border than Abu Dhabi), Sir Bani Yas Island is the UAE’s most singular isle – one dominated by flora and fauna. With more than 13,000 animals – from giraffes to hyenas to cheetahs – it offers several outdoor adventures, but nothing quite so thrilling as the safari. It might mean an early start, but don’t miss the chance to see the place come to life at dawn. If you’re really lucky, you may even see the cheetahs hunting.
